Elementary, my dear Downey

This Christmas, Hollywood will be releasing another film adaptation of a classic work. Robert Downey Jr. will play the title character in the Guy Ritchie-directed "Sherlock Holmes". Jude Law is his sidekick, Watson and Rachel McAdams is the smokin'-hot Irene Adler, the woman who hijacks Holmes' heart. Downey is a turn of the century state Bond, complete with ass-kicking, explosions and witty one-liners. It looks good. Let's just hope it doesn't turn in a tired franchise like Terminator. Watch the trailer below before they take it off YouTube. Jude Law and Rachel McAdams look amazing. Steampunk roleplay, anyone?

It'll be interesting to see if critics and fans start whining about how the movie is nothing like the books. Do people actually read Sherlock Holmes these days? I haven't ready any of the books.

  1. I've read all of one Sherlock Holmes novels and it was ok, but that was when I was in middle school. I will however graciously pay an arm and a leg to see RDJ shirtless, kicking ass turn-of-the-century style. Swoon!

  2. Sorry, but this looks kinda stupid. It doesn't seen like they're sticking to the spirit of the books at all. The man is supposed to be cold, logical genius, not James Bond for the 19the century. Ick

  3. A kick-ass, sexed up Sherlock Holmes...the only way to get viewers into the movie theater these days, I suppose. It does look entertaining and funny, though.

Thanks so much for your comments!
