This One's For the Boys Overseas

This 4th of July I was extra patriotic and went to the Liberty Belle Spectacular, hosted in part by Dances of Vice. There was a great band playing classic patriotic songs, burlesque and we could the Macy's Fireworks from the roof of the hotel. When it comes to Dances of Vice, you of course have to dress for the occasion so I came up with an idea for an outfit and got two friends to help:

"The Andrews Sisters", from left: Laverne, Patty and Maxine

A lot of people were really tickled by our outfits. Nothing I had on was vintage, but I did go to a real, live army surplus store for the garrison caps and I picked up this goody from GirlProps to add to my costume since I love naval uniforms and anything with an anchor on it:
I tried to strike a cheesecake-y pose but this woman was in my way. Grrr.

Kelsey and I made nice with Dandy Wellington, our host for the evening.

Check out the rest of the amazing costumes and burlesque dancers at Metromix!
