One Day, Two Parties

Saturday was a busy day, indeed. I finally made it to the Bi-Annual Jazz Age Lawn Party and it was wonderful. After a dreary, rainy week there wasn't a cloud in the sky. The Dreamland Orchestra played beautifuly and people were dressed to the nines. In fact, some people were a bit too dressed up, wearing 20s and 30s-inspired evening looks to a party *clutches pearls in horror*

I especially enjoyed this gentleman's whimsical colors:

Just being on Governor's Island was great. It's a gorgeous place with great views of the city and Brooklyn but you feel like you're miles away from Manhattan.

My boyfriend came with me, taking the sexy Newsies approach to his outfit:
Dress - H&M
Scarf - 1980s? I stole it from my mom

We started taking swing lessons in the last month or so, so we were able to do a decent Charleston, which was exciting.

After the Lawn Party, I rushed home, took a nap, and got all dolled up for another Dances of Vice party, Enchantment Under the Sea. My knowledge of Back to the Future is really spotty, so it completely escaped me that this party's theme, prom in 1955, was taken from the film. Either way, I had an amazing time.
Dress - 1960s cocktail dress, Remote Luxury on Etsy
Hair clip (worn as corsage) - H&M
White gloves - 1950s, etsy (not seen here)
My friend from high school came with me (that's him in the photo). I don't think we've had more than a five-minute conversation in about three years, so it was great to spend some time with him. He's all over Dances of Vice and I think he'll be back.

  1. Oh my Goodness! You two looks soooo marvelous! I gotta get to some fun get-togethers that are fun to dress in my retro style for. I get the feeling I'm being gawked at when I go to regular parties which is ok..but I would like to be around retro dressed folks from time to time too..wouldn't pull out evening attire for a day party though lol :)

Thanks so much for your comments!
