Birthday Brunch with Dandy Wellington

On my birthday two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of brunching with some friends at the Astor Room in Astoria, Queens. I almost never go to Queens because it's so inconvenient to get to from Brooklyn on the train, but I read up on it and knew it would be worth the trek. I read good things about the food via Yelp, and I already knew I liked Dandy Wellington And His Band.

I love this chandelier by the entrance
Dining at the Astor Room means getting close to film history, which I love. It used to be the dining room of the studio that eventually became Paramount Studios. More than 120 silent movies and talkies were made there. Big names like Rudolph Valentino and the Marx Brothers ate between takes. The restaurant is now a "contemporary interpretation of the American Supper Club", so the 1920s feel is very much there.

The food lived up to the Yelp reviews--my spinach and goat cheese omelet was fantastic. Every entree came with a free mimosa and they didn't skimp on the champagne. If you ever find yourself at the Astor Room for brunch, do yourself a favor and order the donut holes. I'm still licking my fingers.

I closed my eyes but it's the only full body photo I have!
Sweater - H&M
Clutch - stole it from my mom, circa 1980s
1950s Jantzen skirt - Baroness Von Vintage on Etsy
Heeled oxfords - Urban Outfitters
And this dapper gent gave me a birthday shout out at the end of his set. I went home feeling fat and happy. And then ate cake.
