At the Farmacy

Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain is one of my favorite places in Brooklyn (and that's saying something because I love Brooklyn). So imagine the giddy look I got on my face when I saw on their blog that they were serving free egg creams in honor of their two-year anniversary!

Brooklyn Farmacy is the sweetest sweet shop this side of the Hudson. It's a converted 1920s pharmacy on a cozy corner in Cobble Hill that now serves classic soda fountain drinks and food with a twist. The decor and low light make it nice and comfortable. It's really a nice little something apart from the rest of the world. The Farm (that's what local's call it, the Farm) is really great about using local products like pickles, cheese, and soda syrups from Brooklyn and the rest of New York. Not that I'm too hung up on that sort of thing--I'm just in it for the ice cream.

The Boy and I sat at the counter and ordered egg creams from the nicest waitress. I went for the good old standby, chocolate, but my companion went for vanilla. We then split a gooey, sharp grilled cheese sandwich, chatting and listening to swing tunes playing overhead.

And since it was raining outside, we took our time. We waited for the rain to let up a bit before we ventured outside, but I was prepared, thanks to my leopard print Bubble Betty rain bonnet.

You can't see it all, but I'm wearing the ModCloth Soda Fountain Dress at an actual soda fountain

Sigh. It was such a nice end to a tough work day. A sugary treat and good company were exactly what I needed. I always leave Brooklyn Farmacy wanting to come back. I hadn't been since last summer, but I definitely won't let another year go by before I stop in. I've got my eye on the red velvet Twinkie sundae.
