Retrofit: Red & Purple

It's taken far too long for this dress to make it to the blog. I bought it last fall from Amy of Wildfell Hall Vintage. It's a 1940s rayon shirtwaist, and best of all the buttons are rhinestones!

Hadn't worn my mahjongg tile bracelet in a while and it felt good to bring it out

Wearing this dress is the easiest thing in the world, but it still makes me feel elegant (partly because of the rhinestone buttons). It's easy to dress up or down and I love the cuffed sleeves and tiny pockets.

They always tell you not to wear red and purple together but the Lovely Surprise flats from Poetic License brings the colors together quite nicely.

I'm terrified of doing irreparable damage to this beauty of a dress but when I bought it, I'd been keeping my eye out for a red shirtwaist for ages. Now the hunt begins for a repro 40s style shirtwaist I can wear for swing dancing.

  7. Thanks guys! I was told at one point that red and purple never matched and it took me a long time to get it out of my head. Obviously, I was wrong.
