Peacock Party on the Trains

via Levy's Unique New York
God bless the MTA! New York's train system is still putting itself back together after Hurricane Sandy, but they were able to bring back an event I'm jealous I've never been to: the Vintage Train Peacock Party. Quirky tour company Levy's Unique New York teams up with the MTA, NYC Balboa Club and NYC Swing Dancing Club to bring out a subway train from the early 20th century and stuff it with stylish people and swing ensembles. Best of all? All it costs is subway fare. This, friends, is the real reason I'm not doing Santacon.

This is the event's sixth year but it'll be a little different. From what I understand, this is usually a tea party but the Levys want us to skip the food to keep the train neat. Not a problem; just means it'll be easier to dance.

Meet on the uptown platform at the 2nd Avenue stop on the F train at 3pm on Sunday in your glad rags.   The train rides from 2nd Avenue to Queens Plaza and pack. And they're even giving us an after party! Revelers will head to Idle Hands (25 Avenue B) for drink specials just for people in costume. I can't wait.
