Swinging at the Jazz Age Lawn Party

After a long work week, a lazy day on Governors Island with Michael Arenella and the Dreamland Orchestra playing in the background was just what the doctor ordered. On Saturday, I got into my 20s and 30s inspired best for one of my favorite summer events in New York, the Jazz Age Lawn Party.

Nice Work if You Can Get It (And I Got It)

this is the dress!
I've been sitting on some exciting news because I'm a worry wart but here goes: that lovely dress I wore to the Kentucky Derby party? The one I was photographed in for the Wall Street Journal website? Well. I'm now running the social media show for the shop that sold it to me! I couldn't be more excited.

Vintage a la Mode is a San Francisco-based shop with a really great online business as well. Springer Teich is the brains behind the operation and she's built something really fabulous. I'm New York-based but I hope to one day visit her location. It looks absolutely gorgeous.

This (Last) Week in Instagram

I had so many good intentions of getting this up last night, but it just didn't happen. Anywho, here are some snaps from the week! (Not pictured: the fondue set I got at a stoop sale for $8)

At the Farmacy

Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain is one of my favorite places in Brooklyn (and that's saying something because I love Brooklyn). So imagine the giddy look I got on my face when I saw on their blog that they were serving free egg creams in honor of their two-year anniversary!

Brooklyn Farmacy is the sweetest sweet shop this side of the Hudson. It's a converted 1920s pharmacy on a cozy corner in Cobble Hill that now serves classic soda fountain drinks and food with a twist. The decor and low light make it nice and comfortable. It's really a nice little something apart from the rest of the world. The Farm (that's what local's call it, the Farm) is really great about using local products like pickles, cheese, and soda syrups from Brooklyn and the rest of New York. Not that I'm too hung up on that sort of thing--I'm just in it for the ice cream.

This Week in Instagram

It's a new week, so I'm a bit late on this, but I think I want to keep the "This Week in Instagram" feature going.
