East Ville de Carnivale: Heating Up Webster Hall
If there's one thing I love, it's a good party. Which is why I'm extra excited that Webster Hall is going to be decked out in tropical magic Saturday, May 4 for East Ville de Carnivale. The same people who brought us 20s style whiskey and beer are celebrating spring with a fun Carnivale-themed event with (wait for it) tequila and wine.
I don't even know how tequila tastings work, or how people live through them, but I'm excited to learn more about this spirit and all it's complexities (although perhaps I should first learn to drink it without making a face?) And wine! I love wine. I'm from a family of wine drinkers--my parents even owned a wine store for a number of years. I'm slowly beginning to understand wine and wine pairings.
What I loved about the last event was the spectacle. Not only did I drink delicious beer, I watched a woman hang from a ring 50 feet above my head; I heard music on vintage phonographs; there was a live band. The samba performances and bands East Ville is promising sound wonderful. I'm going to embrace my inner Carmen Miranda with a fascinator of some sort, methinks.
