East Ville des Folies

Saturday, I went to East Ville des Folies, an incredible beer and whiskey tasting at Webster Hall. I haven't set foot in Webster Hall in about 3 years because I've always had drunk girls fall on me, but since this was a daytime event, and presumably classy. It was. Bravo, Webster Hall, bravo.

Music Monday (on Tuesday): Footsteps in the Dark

It's been a little nuts around here, but I wanted to get a Music Monday up because I've had a song stuck in my head for about a week now. I was watching a VH1 countdown of the greatest hip-hop songs of the 90s, and somewhere near the bottom of the countdown, "It Was a Good Day" came on.

Whiskey-drinking Flappers

I'm really excited for this weekend's East Ville des Folies. My goal, or hope, is to come away liking at least one whiskey. I've never been a big whiskey drinker, though I love rum. I've found the tiniest bit of whiskey leaves me with a hangover. I'll have the odd whiskey and ginger but drinking it the way you're supposed to? I'm not there yet. But even if I don't learn all there is to know about whiskey, I can at least look the part. In a perfect world, this might be something I'd wear:

Drinking with Al Capone

I won't actually be drinking with Al Capone, obviously, but I will be drinking like Al Capone, and as far as I'm concerned, that's almost the same thing. January 19, I'm heading to East Ville des Folies for the most elegant day drinking this side of the Kentucky Derby.

Music Mondays: Red Riding Hood and the Wolf

It's Music Monday, guys (this is a thing I'm starting; stick with me). I'm dragging ass from this awful cold I have, so much so that I didn't even think I wanted to listen to music today. But I thought about some background music and this song came on. I love this one, a hard rocking tune by Bunker Hill, released in 1963. The song is almost entirely drums and I can't help tapping my foot. Click to hear the perfect song for a meh day.
