Happening this Week, Jan 5-11

I know I keep a list of standard events on a separate page, but I want to give you guys more info about what's going on week by week. So every Sunday, I'll do weekly listings for all the burlesque, vintage and rockabilly events I can find. And if there's anything I missed or you want me to list, please just email me at desiree@popomaticdeluxe.com

Sunday
Rebel Night Rockabilly Record Hop
The Back Room, 102 Norfolk Street Street 8pm, no cover
The same DJs that do my favorite rockabilly party now have a once-monthly Sunday party.

Monday
Svetlana & the Delancey Five
The Back Room, 102 Norfolk Street, 9 pm, no cover
This is a fun little band and from what I hear (I've never actually done this event)there's a lot of great swing dancers.

Tuesday
Tuesday Night Social with Dandy Wellington
Hotel Chantelle, 92 Ludlow Street, 8:30pm, no cover
Dandy Wellington brings his band to one of my favorite restaurants. Lots of swing dancing.

JC Hopkins Combo, featuring Svetlana
McKittrick Hotel, 532 W 27th Street, 10pm, no cover
Great music at a gorgeous venue.

Thursday
Wasabassco at the Way Station
The Way Station, 683 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, 9pm, $10 cover
Amazing burlesque at a teeny tiny Doctor Who/steampunk-themed bar with great drinks. Order the dark and stormy and the bartender yells, "Release the Kraken!" when he opens Kraken rum. Also, it's a great cocktail.

The Peacock Party: A Late Night Variety Show
Duane Park, 308 Bowery, 11pm. $10
Duane Park is a gorgeous venue and this week's performers--Rosie Cheeks, Calamity Chang, and others--will be amazing. Something nice for all you night owls.

Spanking the Lower East Side
Nurse Bettie, 106 Norfolk Street, 10pm, no cover
Calamity Chang produces a burlesque show in a tiny pinup themed bar. Things tend to get, um, interactive. Happens weekly.

The Wiggle Room Show
The Slipper Room, 167 Orchard Street, Doors, 8:30pm, Show 10pm, $10
I've never seen this show but the Slipper Room is a great venue and they always get really established burlesque performers for their shows. Happens weekly.

Friday
Burlesque at Room 69
Hotel Chantelle, 9:30pm $5
More burlesque at Hotel Chantelle! This show is produced by Calamity Chang. Lots of beautiful, talented ladies but some pretty great boylesque, too! I hear it's incredible. Happens weekly.

The Plume Revue
Duane Park, 10pm $80 for dinner and show (but just sit at the bar)
Burlesque superstars like Gal Friday and Medianoche (two of my biggest girl crushes, just saying) appear weekly.

The Slipper Room Show
8:30pm  Doors, 10pm Show, $15
Burlesque, yes, but also sideshow and variety. Happens weekly.

Saturday
Salon à l'Empire
Empire Hotel, 44 West 63rd Street, 5-9pm, no cover
A new monthly event from The Salon (yay!). This month is burlesque from Calamity Chang, live band, happy hour, and trivia. Oh my god I love trivia, especially when it means I have the chance to win a free bottle of champagne. This excites me a lot. Happens monthly.

5th Annual Rockabilly Rave
Huntington Moose Lodge, 7 pm, $12
Even though this party is way out in Long Island, it looks like a good festival. Tons of local rockabilly bands and a pinup contest!

Burlesque at the Beach: Love Letters to Coney
Coney Island, 1208 Surf Avenue, Brooklyn, $15, 8pm
Burlesque and sideshow in the home of the freaks.
