A Slightly Abbreviated Happening This Week, 2/3-2/7

Basically, the snow ruined everything, which is why I'm starting the list of this week's fun with Tuesday. Sorry, guys, it's bad out there. Here's all the vintage, burlesque, rockabilly, swing greatness you need to have on your radar this week. Did I miss one of your favorite events? Tell me in the comments!

Tuesday
Tuesday Night Social with Dandy Wellington
Hotel Chantelle, 92 Ludlow Street, 8:30pm, no cover
Dandy Wellington brings his band to one of my favorite restaurants. Lots of swing dancing. Happens weekly (but double check Facebook)

Twin Peaks Tuesday
The Exley, 1 Jackson Street, Brooklyn, 8pm
There's burlesque for whatever your pleasure, including Twin Peaks, a not especially sexy show. This is a thing. Um, what? Happens weekly.

Wednesday
Take a Turn for the Nurse!
Nurse Bettie, 106 Norfolk Street, 9:45 Go-Go, 10pm show, no cover
Shelly Watson is one of the funniest and most talented emcees I've ever seen do a burlesque show. Any lady to do an opera version of "Get Low" (yes, that one by the Ying Yang Twins) is great in my book. She puts together great performers like Hazel Honeysuckle and Francine the Lucid Dream. Happens weekly.

Shaken and Stirred
The Delancey, 168 Delancey St, sets at 10, 11, 12 and sometimes even 1am, DJ til 2, no cover
Across the street from Nurse Bettie, the ladies of Sugar Shack Burlesque are heating up the LES even more. Also, sometimes there are free shots and even better, a dance party! Check their site for the weekly performer lineup. Happens weekly

Cabaret des Ilusions
Duane Park, 308 Bowery, 9pm, free with dinner or drinks at bar
Burlesque in a gorgeous venue with "prestidigitation". Striptease queen, DIY goddess and singer Amber Ray provides music. Happens weekly.

Nuit Blanche: Classic Burlesque
Beaumarchais 409 W 13th St, 9-11pm
The incredible people behind Dances of Vice have a weekly show at a gorgeous French restaurant. This week, big names like Rosie 151 and Medianoche (swoon) do classic burlesque. Dinner reservations are recommended but it's OK if you just go to drink. Happens weekly.

Thursday
Spanking the Lower East Side
Nurse Bettie, 106 Norfolk Street, 10pm, no cover
Calamity Chang produces a burlesque show in a tiny pinup themed bar. Things tend to get, um, interactive. Happens weekly.

The Wiggle Room Show
The Slipper Room, 167 Orchard Street, Doors, 8:30pm, Show 10pm, $10
I've never seen this show but the Slipper Room is a great venue and they always get really established burlesque performers for their shows. Happens weekly.

Friday
Shakin’ All Over Under Sideways Down (New York Night Train with Jonathan Toubin)
Home Sweet Home, 131 Chrystie Street, 10:30pm-4am, free before 11pm
Ignore the taxidermy and the fact that you feel like you're in someone's basement rec room. From what I hear, this party is absolutely worth it. It's on my list. Go and tell me it lives up to the hype!

Burlesque at Room 69
Hotel Chantelle, 9:30pm $5
More burlesque at Hotel Chantelle! This show is produced by Calamity Chang. Lots of beautiful, talented ladies but some pretty great boylesque, too! I hear it's incredible. Happens weekly.

The Plume Revue
Duane Park, 10pm $80 for dinner and show (but just sit at the bar)
Burlesque superstars like Gal Friday and Medianoche (two of my biggest girl crushes, just saying) appear weekly.

The Slipper Room Show
8:30pm  Doors, 10pm Show, $15
Burlesque, yes, but also sideshow and variety. Happens weekly.

Saturday
Dixieland Jamboree Brunch
Hotel Chantelle, 1pm-4pm
A brunch secret so good, I shouldn't even be sharing it with you. Delicious food, great music by Dandy Wellington and a select few cocktails on the menu are 92 cents. Happens weekly

Floating Kabarette, Special Aquarius Edition
Galapagos Arts Space, 16 Main St, Brooklyn, 9:30 doors, 10:30 show $17-36, 2 drink min.
Circus, cabaret and burlesque, oh my!

The Tassel Room
Duane Park, dinner seatings at 8:30 and 10, $87-97 per person for three-course meal
Delightfully schmaltzy drag king Murray Hill hosts an evening of jazz, burlesque and dance at the gorgeous venue. Happens weekly.

Bonnie Dunn's Le Scandal Cabaret
Laurie Beechman Theater, 407 W 42nd St, 10:30, $25 tickets plus $15 min.
The longest-running burlesque variety show in New York. A little on the edgy, performance side but looks like a lot of fun! Happens weekly.
