Monday Man Candy: Rock Hudson

This Monday, I'm feeling lazy, so I'm doing Rock Hudson. Rock Hudson is a no-brainer when we're talking about men from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Why does he look like that? Why were we mere mortals blessed with such gorgeousness?

Born Roy Harold Scherer, Rock Hudson served in World War II. When he first tried to break into Hollywood, he wasn't much of an actor. But with a bunch of acting, fencing, dancing, singing, and horseback riding class (whew! tired even listening that), he was leading man material.

He's known for his romantic comedies. He did so many with Doris Day, she was practically his beard. But he also did some heavy dramatic role and landed an Academy Award nomination for his work with James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor in "Giant". Enough bio--thinking about poor, closet Rock Hudson who died of AIDS makes me sad. On to the pictures!

This is the hottest thing ever. Liz always said it Rock's homosexuality was the worst-kept secret in Hollywood. But he's definitely selling me straight here.

Here he is with Doris Day. Their movies are cute if a little tiresome. The rest of the world was all, "Ooh! Sexual revolution!" and Doris Day spent all those movies clutching her pearls. Yawn. Anywho, they could be awfully cute together at times.

I don't know what movie this is from but I'm not sure I actually care. via

And last but not least, gratuitous toplessness. Swoon.
