Retrofit: Flowers by the Bridge, Plus a Book

A few weeks ago, I went to the Brooklyn Bridge to have some fun with a lovely photographer I met a few months ago. For some reason, he agreed to take some outfit photos for me! We have a great time.

Calvin Klein cardigan - gift
Hell Bunny skirt - Modcloth
Bakelite hoop earrings - Etsy

It was a gorgeous night/sunset and there was lots of wind for my Hell Bunny skirt.

I love this skirt. It's so cheerful and I get compliments whenever I wear it. And how can you not smile when you have on a lemon yellow bolero? The color is so rich and wonderful.

At the time, I was reading this great pulp Dead on the Level. I love pulp novels from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. It was written by a woman, Helen Nielsen, which is kind of rare for the time. I Googled her and found out she went on to later write episodes of "Perry Mason" and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents".

The story starts with a girl walking into a bar and paying a man $5,000 to marry her. Sounds like the beginning of a naughty joke but it's true! It was a good read, and I picked it up from a used bookstore in Midtown for just $5.

  1. Love these shots! Can't wait for the JD McPherson show. :)

  2. What a lovely blog post AND pictures! you look gorgeous in these photos! Great choice on the Brooklyn Bridge too :)
