Retrofit: In Which I Mix Prints

As much as I love color, I don't always feel super confident when mixing them. I've been known to text friends the odd photo of a color combination I'm not sure about, and they almost tell me it's OK. So maybe it's more a matter of trusting my gut.

That's what I did weekend before last when I went to a gorgeous brunch event at Sonny's Soda Shoppe at the Mondrian Soho hotel. The rooftop space is inspired by a 1950s Italian beach club. I am 100% here for that. The weather was perfect at the view was incredible.

I've been wearing my Hell Bunny skirt to death this summer, usually with a white top if not with the matching crop top. But within a couple minutes of getting the striped top home from H&M, I was like, I know what to do with it! Just for good measure, I added my insane striped wedges, which are unfortunately a little hard to see below. And thus, another outfit, one slightly daring for me, was created. I mixed patterns and nobody died. It was a good day.

top - H&M
skirt - Hell Bunny from ModCloth
Cardigan - Calvin Klein
Purse - Nahui Ollin
Shoes - Dolce Vita

  1. I'm always nervous to mix and match but you did a great job! Everything looks so pretty together!! xox

  2. What a lovely place to visit. I love the splash of yellow with the stripes in your outfit:)

  3. This outfit is brilliant! So fresh and bold, yet classic, I especially like it with the yellow cardigan.
I'm always hesitant to mix patterns but a striped top seems to go with everything-- I'll have to keep that in mind.

Thanks so much for your comments!
